It all started in the year 2008 when Sunil Ghorawat while on his way home in Gurgaon happened to notice a water pipeline burst and a huge crevice on the road. With a School Name Plate dangling on its side, he decided to venture deeper into the school at Saidulajaab village for his concern for the safety of the school children. On meeting the principal, he was informed that children frequently fell ill by drinking tap water in the school. This triggered a realization of how providing a simple purifier could make a difference in the lives of the children. Thanks to two UV purifiers installed and maintained by him, school children were saved the drudgery of carrying water bottles to school whose water was presumed to be safe for drinking.
He then roped in his two friends and colleagues and decided to convert his noble thought to a philanthropic venture by forming the Neer Foundation. A not for profit Civil Society Organization, Neer Foundation is promoted by young technocrats and entrepreneurs to bring in change in the lives of poor children by enabling them to have access to safe drinking water and sanitation at school.
Through its unique intervention programs at schools, founders of Neer Foundation wish to repay back to society their experience, knowledge and expertise in the water industry, where they have successfully built their individual careers. |
