“Water and Sanitation is one of the primary drivers of public health. I often refer to it as “Health 101”, which means that once we can secure access to clean water and to adequate sanitation facilities for all people, irrespective of the difference in their living conditions, a huge battle against all kinds of diseases will be won.”

Former Director General of WHO,

Water for Life Decade
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of the United Nations have set us on a common course to push back poverty, inequality, hunger and illness. The world has pledged to reduce by half, proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation. We have now entered into the International Decade for Action: Water for Life (2005–2015). In this decade for action, the challenge for us are mainly three:
To maintain the gains already made
To push ahead quickly to provide drinking water and sanitation services to the billions of people living in rural areas who have no such services.
To accelerate the successful efforts in urban areas to keep pace with the rising urban population, particularly by focusing on low income and disadvantaged groups
Urged by this burning need to enable citizen’s access to quality drinking water a passionate and socially sensitive group of young professionals have come forward to initiate a citizen’s action for Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation under the umbrella of Neer Foundation.
